FREE ONLINE LECTURE ANCIENT COVIDIOTS: THE CASE OF ALEXANDER OF ABOUNOTEICHOS
During times of pandemic, conspiracies and snake oil merchants proffering cures abound. Poet and short story writer, Dean Kalimniou, will present a lecture on Alexander of Abounoteichos, who not only claimed he could protect others from the Plague of Galen, but in the process, created an entire cult, featuring among other things, a most ingenious sock puppet. FREE ONLINE LECTURE COVID AND WORKING MIGRANT COMMUNITIES
Kos Samaras will be presenting a lecture hosted by The Greek Community of Melbourne delving into how COVID-19 has not just been lethal for many of our frail elderly but for thousands of migrant workers, exposed because of their work and lack of care.This pandemic will be remembered for many tragedies, but history will highlight one very obvious trait. The impact on migrant communities, from the cold streets of Stockholm to the countless undocumented workers in Texas.

BRIMBANK WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL ONLINE 
This year Brimbank Council is bringing the festival to you online, over three weekends in September so get ready and book yourself in. Due to COVID-19, the Festival is taking place online with a series of videos featuring six authors in intimate conversation. All conversations were filmed at the Bowery Theatre, videos produced by Cinespace Inc, and will premiere on Brimbank Libraries YouTube Channel. The festival will cover themes such as stories of strength and resilience, memoirs and families & crime.

NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH MONTH LAUNCH
National Mental Health Month is an initiative of the Mental Health Foundation Australia to advocate for and raise awareness of Australian mental health. The Greek Club in conjunction with the Greek Film Society of Brisbane and New Farm Six Cinemas is presenting a new Australian film by Greek-Australian filmmaker Alkinos Tsilimidos. When a waitress is substituted for a belly dancer in a Greek restaurant, chaos and mayhem ensue before the owner is forced to change his old ways to prevent a major catastrophe.
