Fiesta Kultura Emerge 2001

Following on from the success of the Fiesta Kultura project in 2000, Kulcha is proud to launch the Fiesta Kultura Emerge 2001 series. This series will showcase the magic of Perth's emerging African communities. Co-ordinated by Kulcha, Multicultural Arts of WA and funded by the Australia Council, the Fiesta Kultura Emerge Project offers opportunities for eleven emerging African communities.

Kulcha will work with communities to co-ordinate a series of contemporary arts activities selected by the communities for their cultural significance and ongoing value to the identity of their cultures.

This is an exciting initiative that has the potential to reflect the richness and diversity of all new emerging communities in Western Australia. The project also offers the opportunity to help advance these communities' aspirations primarily through arts activity and to aide in the generation of further projects.

The projects are not limited to performance only. Crossing all art forms, they may range from visual arts to literature, craft, and even food and ceremonial events. You could spend the afternoon strolling through an African Bazaar, tasting the cuisine, learning about their handicrafts, textiles and costumes and be entertained by musicians and body tattooists.
