FIESTA KULTURA Fiesta Kultura is about celebrating the cultures that make Fremantle a unique port city as well as respecting the cultural paradigms of the community. Fiesta Kultura will allow for individual cultural expression from multicultural artists and communities resident in WA by giving them space and a platform to celebrate the cultural fabric that makes Australia unique. PROJECT ACTIVITES If we had to define Fremantle's identity, we would have to say it is its uniqueness. A Port City with people from many culturally diverse backgrounds who have made the city what it is today. Fiesta Kultura is about highlighting and demonstrating the nexus between the culture and the everyday life of the Fremantle electorate. Fiesta Kultura will reflect through the arts the reality of where culture and lifestyle sits within the diverse cultural and social traditions of the people resident in Western Australia. Kulcha Multicultural Arts of Western Australia will co-ordinate a Pena series of cultural sessions in 1999/2000, throughout the Fremantle electorate, with individual communities and artists culminating in a final combined celebration -Fiesta Kultura in November 2000. Fiesta Kultura will enable the Federation celebrations in the Fremantle electorate to focus in on the significant contribution of communities from diverse cultural backgrounds. The Fiesta Kultura would be have it's own identity as an individual component of the Fremantle Festival. It is envisaged that this component would remain as an integral component of the Festival after the year 2000. At the end of the of the Fiesta Kultura the stories of key people within the community would be collated with images from the Pena's and the Fiesta and published on the World Wide Web with a forward acknowledging the contribution of Federation Grants to the cultural life of Fremantle. Kulcha Multicultural Arts of Western Australia has been successfully funded through the Federation Grants scheme for Fiesta Kultura - a celebration of Fremantle's cultural heritage. The grant is Federal and is through the Fremantle Electorate Office of Dr. Carmen Lawrence.
