PERU THE SINGING WOMAN
Peru the Singing Woman is a spirited singer based in New Zealand who spent four years in the desert of New Mexico learning about ancestral memory and the ancient ways of chanting to the voice of the earth. Entrancing the audience by the power moving through her voice it could be simply said it is the earth singing through Peru. Working with live tablas, drones, hammered dulcimer and native American flute, Peru is constantly creating layers of intoxicating chant and vocal percussion. She inspires total participation of the audience in simple chants that can build into an ecstatic state. With the support of her looping pedal she fondly calls DIVA, Peru's performance is simply potent!
