KULTOUR, National Multicultural Touring Network present Fouad Harraka & Middle Eastern Knights
Born in Lebanon, Fouad Harraka is a well-known arranger, composer, performer and teacher of Arabic music. In Beirut and the Middle East he composed music for many artists, including a series of CDs of Byzantine Music and a CD of Arabic songs for children. He has performed regularly at Melbourne's main music festivals and events. Fouad's music and dance group, Middle Eastern Knights showcases the wide world of Middle Eastern and Arabic music at its best.Fouad Harraka's latest projects include a number of documentary and movie soundtracks. He composed the film score featuring didgeridoo for the recently launched Tale of Two Peoples - collaboration between Arabic and Australian Indigenous Youth; presented by the Australian Arabic Council and Richard Frankland's Golden Seahorse Productions.
Claire Naffah is a master performer of classical and oriental dance whose improvisations are legendary for their beauty and elegance. Claire is recognised as perhaps Australia's best exponent of many oriental dance forms originating in the Middle East and the Orient.A rare opportunity to experience the magic of Middle Eastern music and dance brought to Western Australia by Kultour Multicultural Touring Network of Australia. Kultour is a national multicultural arts touring network and is an initiative of the Arts in a multicultural Australia policy of the Australia council.

The City of Perthand KULCHA proudly present PARKLIFE ~ Music in the City! Four sensational free concerts in Russell Square, Northbridge Together KULCHA and the City of Perth are playing a role in creating a more positive perception for the Northbridge precinct. KULCHA now operates a venue in Fremantle where it presents over 100 performances annually. KULCHA was based in the North Perth Town Hall for 15 years, so it's links with the area and many communities are strong. This series of free music concerts provides an opportunity for these communities to experience the cultural diversity of Western Australia and the talent that exists here. The concerts are designed for families, local residents and people who enjoy great music and are an excellent way for people to create a new atmosphere in Northbridge. The most beautiful park in Northbridge will come alive in April to beats and rhythms from around the world as four world music groups perform a series of free Saturday family concerts. Throw a rug on the lawn or set your picnic on a table. 6-8pm, Saturday 6th April 2002 Imagine the energy of live African master musicians performing dance music in English, French and West African dialects. The Ziggy Bey Jan Group will leave you breathless with their colour and energy. 6-8pm, Saturday 13th April 2002 A juicy jazz combination from new sensation Tight Like This, a sparkling jazz sextet bursting with new and fresh jazz, funky brass and big brown bass. Give your woogie a boogie in the park. 5-7pm, Saturday 20th April 2002 Australia's only cello quartet, I Cellisti will swoon you through a romantic joyride, a galaxy of classical hits and original compositions. If you love your classics played with passion, this performance is a must. 6-8pm, Saturday 27th April 2002 The fastest growing movement in music today is Bhangra, a fusion of classical Indian with the latest European club music.
