Federation Dance DuoEarly Australian/First Settlers music The Federation Dance Music Duo teaches students the musical background to early Australia as a multicultural society. The duo play traditional Australian dance music between the 1800s when the first settlers arrived in Australia, up to the 1950s which saw the beginnings of 'bush bands'. Students are involved by playing percussive instruments such as spoons and tambourines and can learn the basic dance steps for waltzes, barn and skipping dances. Students will also be made aware that the traditional Australian tunes are multicultural in origin, having evolved from the folk music of Great Britain, Austria, Germany, Poland and Bohemia. PascaleFrench singing, acting & dancing Pascale is a Titi-Parisien singer, sultry, smooth and oh so trés chic! Her voice is powerful and passionate in resonating the haunting ballads of Paris in the 1950s with heartfelt theatrical performances reminiscent of the Edith Piaf legend. Workshops will cover French history including culture and expression. Pascale grew up in Paris and began singing for her father's market stall in Rue Alesia. Souleiado French Dance GroupFrench Dance Laurel de Vietri has been teaching dances from the Alsace region in North Eastern France in schools for many years. Learn about the customs of Indian music and explore the integral roles played by traditional instruments. The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument that has been ubiquitous in Hindustani classical music since the Middle Ages and is used throughout the Indian subcontinent. Abe was born in Buenos Aires and grew up in Spain, and is influenced by the Spanish Flamenco and Rock fusions. Funkalleros was born out of a desire to bring together a diversity of musical elements into one project. The objective is to meld intricate rhythms of Latin music with contemporary urban grooves.
