PETER KIFT MNIA, AFAIM - President
As an accountant with a Bachelor of Business degree and more than 25 years
experience in the private, government, non-profit and community sectors, Peter brings with
him a wealth of business experience, but with a primary focus on finance and
management matters. He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of
Management and a member of the National Institute of Accountants. His roles have
encompassed public practice accounting and taxation, state government, aircraft R and
D, the film and television industry, and more recently in the community health sector where
he is currently the Business Manager for the Western Australian AIDS Council. He has a
keen interest in the arts, having been a musician, singer and actor in his younger days.
Peter has been the honorary treasurer for ATOM in Victoria and has been involved as a production accountant in many independent film productions. He is also a member of the Financial Advisory Group for Australia's leading indigenous theatre company, Yirra Yaakin, and is keen for arts organisations to become financially secure and achieve world best practice in every part of their endeavours. |

JON STRACHAN - Vice President
Jon has a love of music and live entertainment and believes in the social capital inherent in creative cultures. He formed this view during his recent 4 years on Fremantle Council where he served as chair of the Arts, Culture and Events Committee. Being on Council was a passport to the arts in Fremantle, a privilege he will always cherish. Jon and his long term partner Cathy Hall enjoy living in a converted stable in South Fremantle. Jon currently studies at Curtin University, converting his Grad. Cet. in Sustainability to a Grad Dip, while also working in heavy engineering. Jon's work takes him interstate and overseas, where he enjoys working with different people and experiencing a broad range of cultures. |

COUNCILLOR RASA SUBRAMANIAM OAM, JP
Rasa Subramaniam was born in Malaysia and arrived in WA in 1968, and has been working at Fremantle Hospital as a Medical Imaging Technologist since 1970.
He is currently managing the Accident & Emergency Radiology Department.Married with two children, Rasa has a very long history of community involvement, including previous stints as Deputy Chair of Celebrate WA, on the Oz Concert Committee, Ethnic Communities , Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia , Australasian Association of WA. He is currently Deputy Mayor of the City of Melville and on the Board of Challenger Tafe. Rasa has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal, Centenary of Federation Medal and Multicultural Ambassador Award by OMI. He has also served on the Ministerial Multicultural Advisory Council. His interest is in community development, performing and visual arts, and festivals advocacy for Health and Indigenous communities. |

PAULA SILBERT
Paula Silbert is an arts consultant who is currently consultant curator and arts advisor to St John of God Hospital Murdoch,
and mentor to Katanning's Mungart Boodja Arts Centre for Noongar artists. She was inaugurating Director of Festival Fringe (aka the Artrage Festival), ran Crafts Council of WA and has consulted to the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the WA Museum, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Healthway and the Department for Culture and the Arts. She continues to advise and support established and emerging artists. Paula's popular radio programme 'Smart Arts' a weekly multi-arts round-up - was broadcast on MIX 94.5FM for a decade. |

JENNY SIMPSON
An experienced Arts Manager, Jenny has recently returned to Perth having spent two
years as the Festival Director of the National Folk Festival and in late 2006 completed
a consultancy as the Interim Director at Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre.
In April 2007 she was appointed General Manager of AWESOME Arts, combining her passion for presenting high quality and innovative arts, community cultural development and working with regional communities. Jenny has previously sat on a number of Boards, including the National Folk Festival, Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre and as the Treasurer on the board of Canberra Arts Marketing. Her interaction with KULCHA during the past 10 years has been positive and multi- faceted as a performer, artist representative, community worker, project facilitator and most recently a brief stint as the Marketing and Promotions Officer. |

TIM CHAMBERS
Tim Chambers combines his love of Latin American and Hispanic folk music with a strong background in music education.
Tim has played with numerous groups, and is particularly remembered for his long involvement with Los Chasquis, as well as Pan Arkestra and Ozmosis. In the 1980s Tim was involved in the early years of KULCHA (then the North Perth Ethnic Music Centre). Tim has also worked for Musica Viva in Schools presenting educational performances about multicultural music. Recently, Tim has completed a Masters in Special Education at UWA in which he undertook research into the impact of background music upon people with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He has also been a committee member of DADAA, as well as designing a music programme for students with intellectual disabilities. |

MARY Del CASALE
Mary is a Community Planner and Place Maker and the lead consultant for MDC Places Group.
She has worked with communities, local and state government as well as the private sector, delivering community and leadership development services.Mary has spent over 25 years as a facilitator and community developer, with a focus on innovative stakeholder and community engagement. Her key clients today are local and state government in Western Australia often within the context of social research, community needs analysis, vision setting, neighbourhood planning, place regenerationand sustainability. Mary collaborates with community artists and designers as a key strategy to support place making projects. Her career includes 10 years with the Department for Community Development and 10 years with the Department for Planning and Infrastructure. This has put her in a unique position where she understands both creative community building and land-use planning processes. She has extensive networks within the government, community and cultural planning sector. She is part of the WA State Committee of the International Association of Public Participation and is a member of the Australasian Facilitators Network. |
