ANAHITA IRANI
INDIAN TRIBAL ART- WARLI

Anahita Irani is a multi-faceted artist who discovered Warli art shortly before migrating to Australia from India. She immediately connected with this traditional folk art and its expressive and eye-catching style, and has been exhibiting her own Warli works on cloth and canvas since 2006.

This exhibition showcases Anahita's works bringing out the vast and magical world of Warlis.

COMME UN ACCORD

Hailing all the way from the tiny Canadian island of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, Comme un Accord are an acoustic duo whose intimate folk tunes took them from an island with a population of 6000 to the bright lights and big stage of the Francofolies Festival in La Rochelle, and a crowd of 12,000 fans.

They will be joined by Perth-based French folk femme Géraldine.

THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS AND PLACE OF INDIGO - RAISING MONEY FOR HANDS ACROSS THE WATER

The Atlas Mountains are joining hands with Place of Indigo for an eclectic night of music for a good cause.

The Atlas Mountains sound not dissimilar to what would transpire if Kerouac and Kierkegaard were to co-write country songs, while Place of Indigo's influences vary from Mars Volta to Joy Division.

This October and November the City of Swan and KULCHA will be joining forces to present two World Music Showcase concerts at the new Midland Junction Arts Centre. The concerts will feature some of the best traditional and contemporary culturally diverse artists living in Western Australia with an inspiring program of talent and variety.
The concerts have been timed to celebrate United Nations Day on Saturday 24 October and International Day of Tolerance on Sunday 14 November 2009.
