    It's time for the annual Golden Koala Children's Festival!
    In its eleventh year, the Golden Koala group presents a multicultural showcase of traditional song and dance.

    This special initiative was established by Lena Trajkovska to promote peace and unity amongst young Western Australians through the celebration of cultural diversity.

    Come and enjoy heartfelt performances from some of Perth's most talented young people.

    King Marong and Lamine Sonko - ONE AFRICA

    Africa Unites! A night of acoustic jammin', African-style, with renowned African artists King Marong (Gambia) and Lamine Sonko (Senegal).

    With musical heritage rooted in the ancient Mandinkan traditions of West Africa, the duo will present an exciting blend of traditional African drumming and dance on instruments such as the djembe, boucarabou, doundoun and sabar.

    Join King and Lamine for dance and percussion workshops on Saturday 8 December.

    JOANNA ZALIKI KNOWLES - FACES OF SUDAN

    Cairo-born Joanna Zaliki Knowles grew up in countries as diverse as Vietnam, Guatemala and South Africa, and since 2005 has lived and worked in various regions of Sudan.

    She is fascinated by the people, landscape and history of this vast country and hopes to share some aspects of everyday life in Sudan. Joanna believes the most intriguing feature of this nation is its enormous diversity.

    Faces of Sudan presents an insight into the range of Sudanese ethnic groups, languages and cultures, as well as the contrasting and breathtaking landscapes.

    DORIS - Voice and Guitar Duo

    WA's best-loved female duo, Jane Cornes and Margie Hanly, return to KULCHA to present a host of new material together with some old favourites.

    An innovative mix of deep jazz, electronic and experimental Indian classical music. Bal Singh performs electric sarangi, tabla and percussion, joined by Viennese jazz pianist David Scharpt and electronic guru and producer Trilby Temperley.

    Using the latest audio and communication technologies, Cloud Kollektiv collaborates with artists from around the world, presenting echoes of the new world.

    Join master African artists King Marong and Lamine Sonko for a fun and interactive workshop to learn the basics of traditional West African djembe and sabar drum and dance.

    King and Lamine have been performing professionally since they were children, and now teach and perform worldwide.

    A great introduction to African drumming and dance.

    International Human Rights Day reminds us of persisting human rights problems in our communities and in the world, and of the enormous efforts still required to make human rights a reality for all. Secretary General Kofi Annan

    What better way to celebrate Human Rights Day than with an afternoon of contemporary world music in the lush surrounds of the Fremantle Arts Centre. Enjoy high energy beats and dance from Exodus Musica and multicultural performances from Lena Trajkovska's Golden Koala Kids as we come together to contemplate unity and peace in our culturally diverse community.

    For nearly three decades The New I Voci Singers, conducted by founder and musical director John Christmass, has presented a variety of international standard choral music to the Western Australian community.

    NGEWELL KORA - West African Drumming

    Fremantle's own West African-inspired drum, song and dance band, The Ngewell Kora Group, are back! Led by the inimitable Ziggy Mabeye Diagne, the group now also includes Ziggy's brother Djibril, a master of djembe and sabar, alongside Mike O'Shaughnessy and Danielle Pender, recently returned from studying dance in Senegal.

    Expect some surprise guests and come along to dance to the exquisite sounds of the kora.

    Move over Australian Idol, Popstars and X-factor - African-Oz Idol is here! The United Youth Heritage Council presents an awesome line-up with witty hosting, sassy judges and enthusiastic participants.

    The Council aims to increase positive relationships between African and non-African youth, nurture awareness of African culture and further develop skills in young people.

    Local singer-songwriter Brenda Chapman presents an inspired evening of world music.

    Together with a selection of hand-picked musicians including David Hyams and Isabella Jennings, Brenda will perform songs from her upcoming album, to be released in 2008.
