and in partnership with artsource presents:
    VAN THANH RUDD:
    THE CARRIERS, SPACES OF CONTENTION

The Carriers - Local Terrain is an ongoing project by Melbourne-based artist Van Thanh Rudd dedicated to exposing contemporary art beyond the gallery scene to new audiences in public spaces.
Van will carry his paintings, inspired by global issues, through streets, parks, trains, buses and trams during Fremantle Festival.

Join Van to discuss his artwork and notions of an artist's free movement, open public interaction, and censorship. Van will give an overview of The Carriers, and will explore what studio-based painting has meant within this context. He will also look at the potential for future exhibitions and networking between artists.

This tour is proudly supported by Kultour – an initiative of the Australia Council for the Arts – touring Australian Multicultural Arts. The event has two components – one where Van carries his artwork through the streets of Fremantle for Fremantle Festival (Friday 23 November to Monday 26 November); the other is the artist talk at the KULCHA venue Thursday 22 November, 6 – 8pm.

A Kultour project partnered by artsource.
