REZA JAHAN PANAH
BAZGOFT (RETELL) - PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION
Despite all propaganda about this old but unknown land, Iran has other facets to expose; facets that are rarely discussed or ignored.
Through years of travelling and photography, the eye and mind of this photographer have searched life; life which is not necessarily black and white.
Life that for thousands years has been running strongly through the history of Iran, a true multicultural country. A country with enormous diversity in customs, lifestyle, races, languages, religions and traditions.
The exhibition contains photos of Iranian every day life, landscapes and Islamic architectural monuments.
The coincidence of Bazgoft with Iranian New Year, Norooz, gives extra cause for celebration.
There are colours beyond the bleary picture of this land,
but only for those eyes who seek them.
Shirin Jahan Panah, Curator of Bazgoft Exhibition.

NOROOZ (Iranian New Year) - Traditional Persian Music
In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration,
Norooz, is the multi-millennium old tradition that always begins on the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere.
Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts - the End and the Rebirth. Norooz is a time of renewal and symbolises rebirth,
awakening, cleanliness and newness. Therefore, a few weeks before the New Year, Iranians clean and rearrange their homes.
They make new clothes, set up a beautifully designed table decorated with special symbolic items, bake pastries and germinate seeds as a sign of renewal.
For Iranians away from home, Norooz is always a nostalgic and sentimental time.
Please join with us to celebrate Norooz as we feature traditional Persian music played on Saz (Turkish lute tuned in Persian style)
and Zarb (Tombak, chalice shape drum).
