Adam Janali 'Ozala' - OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND - Visual Arts Exhibition for Refugee Week
Ozala is a Hazara refugee from Afghanistan. For three and half years Ozala waited in detention centres for his claim for asylum to be approved. Unable to communicate to the outside world, he began painting and drawing political cartoons and caricatures to express his suffering. Come and feel the rhythms of Sri Lanka with this energetic display of ritual drumming and dance. This collaborative project between Colombo and Perth based Sri Lankan artists presents a rare opportunity to experience Sri Lankan percussion and dance in it's traditional style. From birth and death drumming rituals, to duelling displays and elaborate costumes, this is sure to be one of the KULCHA calendar highlights of 2006.
