Tecoma
Start a fire in your heart
Coming from Alice Springs and receiving plenty of airplay at Triple JJJ Amira (aka Tecoma's) debut EP City Folk music draws as much from jazz, roots and contemporary street music cultures, as it borrows from the rich Arabic and European folk heritage belonging to the singer-song writer at its heart. Tecoma's is a style that's struck a chord with audiences of many and varied tastes across Australia. Tecoma is folk in the truest sense of the word. This is music that knows it's history but at the same time is elbow-deep engaged and enamoured with life unfolding all around it.

EMBER SWIFT
|
Dynamic Canadian Duo*
Toronto's Ember Swift is both an individual singer-songwriter and a dynamic trio. Alongside of Ember's elastic jazz vocals and lush acoustic guitar are layers of electric violin, bass guitar, drums, percussion and vocal harmonies. Most notably, Lyndell Montgomery, with infectious charisma and musicianship akin to wizardy, has been performing with Ember Swift for over seven years. On drums and percussion, the tours rotate between two talented players: Adam Bowman and Cheryl Reid. Together, they combine folk, jazz, funk, punk, world (ranging from Middle Eastern to Spanish to Eastern European), pop, classical and reggae. They travel fluidly between genres and easily shrug off any attempts to cloak their music in a style category. Their "style" cannot be contained. Check the website at www.emberswift.com

PERU THE SINGING WOMAN
|
Sacred Awakenings*
Peru the Singing Woman is a spirited singer based in New Zealand who spent four years in the desert of New Mexico learning about ancestral memory and the voice of the earth. Entrancing the audience by the power moving through her voice it could be simply said it is the earth singing through Peru. Working with live tablas, drones, hammered dulcimer and native American flute, Peru is constantly creating layers of intoxicating chant and vocal percussion. She inspires total participation of the audience in simple chants that can build into an ecstatic state. With the support of her looping pedal she fondly calls DIVA, Peru's performance is simply potent! Check the website at www.thesingingwoman.com
