Aboriginal Showcase SKIN TALK Enjoy a night of indigenous talent featuring the exquisite voice of Jazz/Blues and Yindjibarndi-Yamaji woman Lois Olney with her band the True Believers. Lois has sung with Archie Roach, Jimmy Little and Jeff St John. Lois is also and an actress and artist and is recognised as one of the leading lights in Perth's Jazz and blues circles. Adding to a stunning night's entertainment is acclaimed Yamatji singer songwriter Phill Moncrieff and the Southern Cross Band. Phill both captivates and inspires his audience by advocating spiritual understanding through mysterious acoustic melodies, moving lyrics and at times energized rock. |

Miracle Band X No Song is an Island A rare performance from one of WA's most enigmatic and original bands. Folk, pop, jazz and blues idioms collide with Eastern European rhythms, heartfelt lyricism and song stories that stretch the imagination. Miracle Band X's lineup includes double bass, violin, percussion guitar and vocals. The night also features cello/vocal wunderkind Mel Robinson, performing solo then joining MBX in their second set. Mel is Best known as cellist and vocalist in such outfits as Wood, Myrtle, Ether, Wild Utopia and Squint. Melanie's solo act combines soulful vocals and intimate spoken word with the often soaring, sometimes very funky, and always beautiful sounds of the cello. |
