    In Senegal, the flame of music, history and traditional knowledge is kept alive by family lineages known as 'Ngewell'. Ziggy Bey Jan brings this flame to his adopted home in WA and embraces passionate and experienced local musicians with which he has formed this group. Soaring vocals, intricate melodic instrumentation & compelling rhythms. Come and soak it all in!

    Contemporary taiko (Japanese percussion)
    An experimental vision of the past and future, recreating the landscape from Stone Age to Cyber Age using traditional Japanese, Javanese and Balinese art principles with a variety of percussion, wind instruments and multimedia. Produced by Brisbane Ethnic Music & Arts Centre and touring Australia, this will be a contemporary theatrical and musical experience.

    Japanese Taiko drumming with Batari ensemble
    This workshop introduces the unique history of Taiko, the traditional drum used in ritual and festive occasions in Japan. Participants do not need any special training and will learn various basic techniques, improvisation and hands on ensemble playing, enjoying sound textures in an open and creative environment. Participants may bring their own drum if desired.

    Youth Inter-Faith Event
    As Cat Empire would say 'Music is the language of us all'. This event welcomes young people for an exciting event that celebrates being a young person of faith in an effort to reduce the misunderstanding and stereotyping of religion in the world today. Join in for a drumming workshop and performance, mingling and information. Finger food and non-alcoholic drinks provided.
