KULCHA is hosting two seminars focusing on basic business skills for artists covering areas such as contracts, insurance and finances. These seminars are FREE and are vital to any performers thinking of forming a group, or currently wanting to expand their skills and knowledge of these sometimes unfamiliar areas. These seminars will be conducted by Chris Chalon, Lecturer, Arts Management, WA Academy of Performing Arts. Business Skills Development- Contracts & Insurance Tuesday 13 July 7-9pm Business Skills Development- Budgets & Finances Tuesday 20 July 7-9pm Biography – Christopher Chalon Christopher possesses a wealth of experience in both the corporate world and the arts world. A former Customer Service Manager and Officer in Charge of Training and Development within Telstra’s Commercial Division, he left that organisation to complete a degree in Arts Management at the WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management at Curtin University. He then worked as a Senior Consultant in Quality Management at one of Perth’s largest TAFE Colleges. In the Arts, Christopher has performed administrative stints at the Perth Theatre Trust, His Majesty’s Theatre and The West Australian Opera, and is a former member of the Board of Management for the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. As a guitarist/vocalist, he has worked in several bands around Perth’s contemporary music scene for over 20 years. He is now a fulltime lecturer in Arts Management at WAAPA and is studying toward his PhD. |

His sitar playing has being "compared to a cool, smooth, gentle, fascinating breeze" and blends the character of the great North Indian Raag traditions with his Afghani heritage.
