Afro Brazilian Dance workshop Workshop A descendant of the West African slaves, Ana Santos Soares is from the Northern Brazilian state of Bahai. Her distinctive dance style draws heavily on the rites of Candomble, the religion of Southern Nigeria, blended with the Portugese influences of the New World. This workshop will focus on samba, latin street spiritual dances, and the traditional life of Brazil. Whilst in Perth, Ana will conduct two workshops only: wed 3 @ Ausdance & tues 9 @ KULCHA . |
A special performance For 'Yindili Cultural Arts and Healing Sanctuary in Cape York'. Performances by Zaida (Zi-ee-dah) which means abundance. A group of 9 women performing powerful, hypnotic African rhythms with soaring 3 & 4 part harmonies. Other performances by the 'Djembe Dun Dance Troupe', Rhythm of the Heat Choir, and a special performance by Lucynda's drumming students aged 3 to 60! The evening will be opened with a special didgeridoo player and dancer accompanied by the choir. This will be an amazing evening of rhythm, song, dance and connection between Indigenous cultures and people from all walks of life. All money raised will be donated direct to the charity.
